Pulpitis is an inflammatory process in the pulp of the tooth. It is one of the most dangerous teeth diseases out there. Pulpitis symptoms require attention and timely treatment; otherwise, it can lead to a bad ending.
The pulp is the so-called “heart and brain of a tooth”. It is responsible for the formation and renovation of the tissues. The vessels of pulp transfer the nutritive substances to a tooth. The pulpitis consequences may occur rather in the tooth itself or in the nearest tissues.
One of the most common among them is periodontitis. In the tooth surrounding tissues, the infection appears and catalyzes the abscess. The severe inflammation causes suppuration. Sometimes the pus finds its way out through the gum and forms a fistula.
When there is a pulpitis, teeth hurt while pressing on them but sometimes can hurt even without pressure. There is a feeling of edema and looseness of the tooth. Without treatment, the tooth can be lost. Purulent periodontitis becomes the reason of the osseous structure damage in the tissues near the tooth.
Chronic pulpitis and periodontitis cut the immunity down and damage the health of a patient. It can interfere with digestive functions, work of the cardiovascular system and cause a feeling of chronic fatigue. It is especially dangerous for patients that require any surgical interventions. In rare cases, the infection can spread all over the body through blood and cause blood poisoning.
Children suffer from pulpitis twice as often as adults. The consequences of primary teeth’ pulpitis may influence their mouth health in the future. Usually it goes sharp with kids, with the edema and high temperature. The periodontitis of the primary teeth can cause death of the constant tooth germ so the only proper pulpitis treatment in that case is the extraction of the tooth.
This process may also cause problems – there is a risk of constant teeth germ’s damage in the process of extraction. Besides, it causes malocclusion appearance because the teeth will move in order to fill the empty space in the mouth.
Never hesitate to ask your pediatric dentist for immediate help if your child complains about severe toothache. Be attentive and responsible towards your own dental health too, pay attention to any warning signs and treat your teeth in time.
