MRI Scan in Hyderabad and MRI Scan Cost in Hyderabad

What is an MRI Scan?

Magnetic Resonance Imaging or MRI scan is a diagnostic test or scanning that uses magnetic and radio waves to form an image of the insides of your body. This type of scanning can be used for any part of the body, depending on the diagnostic reasons.

It essentially is a hollow magnetic tube, inside which, you will have to lie to get the scan done.

At the time of the MRI scan, you will be made to sleep on a flatbed and this bed will be inserted into the hollow magnetic tube either head first or feet first. A radiographer who will be in another room will monitor your health parameters and record and generate the required reports.

What can be detected through MRI scans?

It is mainly used to scan or detect any anomalies in body parts or organs like:

  1. Anomalies in Brain and spinal cord
  2. Abnormalities in Bones
  3. Understand heart issues
  4. Joints issues
  5. Chest issues
  6. Detect tumors and cysts
  7. Liver and many other internal organs
  8. Pelvic and Uterine anomalies in women

What are the major types of MRI scans?

There are a variety of MRI scans, below are some of the major ones:

Functional MRI

Functional MRI or FMR is a scan done to understand brain activity and its health status. This type of scan is mostly used during a brain stroke.

Cardiac MRI

As the name suggests, this type of MRI scan is done to understand the functioning of the heart and its nearby blood vessels.

Breast MRI

This MRI scan is done in females to understand if there are any risks of breast cancer. It gives the specific location of the tumor and its progression.

Magnetic Resonance Venography

Magnetic Resonance Venography or MRV is done to get a clear picture of the functioning of the internal organs and structure of the body.

Open High-Field MRI

Few people might not be comfortable with a closed MRI scan due to claustrophobia or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. A few other people might not be able to get inside the MRI comfortably due to obesity or other reasons. In such cases, an open, high-field MRI is a better option.

Benefits of getting an MRI scan

● It is especially helpful in taking the images of the non-bony parts of a body
● MRI provides a better soft-tissue contrast compared to other scans like CT scan
● Has better differentiation of fat, muscle, and water
● It provides a better and more insightful understanding of the underlying anomalies in the body
